Byberry Road Grade Crossing Renewal

CONSTRUCTION DATES: Friday, August 23, 2024, through Monday, August 26, 2024
SCOPE: SEPTA’s in-house forces will perform full-depth renewal of the Byberry Road grade crossing. Crews will be removing the existing crossing surface as well as worn ties and rails through the roadway. Throughout the weekend, SEPTA will reconstruct the grade crossing with a new asphalt surface and install new ties and rails. The grade crossing and the approaches will be milled and paved before reopening the road to service. The new grade crossing will provide a smoother ride across the tracks and provide a new surface free of any cracks and potholes in the road.
DETOURS DURING CONSTRUCTION:
Full Closure: Friday, August 23, 2024, at 9:00 AM, through Monday, August 26, 2024, at 8:00 PM: To facilitate construction during this round-the-clock closure, Byberry Road between Audubon Avenue and Blakeslee Drive will be detoured for the duration of the project, with access for local traffic only.
Traffic detour will be posted and maintained for the duration of the renewal project. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. At no time will access to local businesses adjacent to the crossing and private property be barricaded.
Byberry Road motorists will be directed to use Philmont Avenue and Bustleton Avenue.
o Byberry Road will be closed to all vehicular through-traffic beginning Friday, August 26, 2024 @ 9:00 AM, at its intersection of the SEPTA Railroad tracks near Forest Hills Regional Rail Station.
o Byberry Road eastbound traffic will be detoured at the intersection of Byberry Road and Philmont Avenue onto Philmont Avenue; north on Philmont Avenue to Bustleton Avenue; south on Bustleton Avenue to the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Byberry Road.
o Byberry Road westbound traffic will be detoured at the intersection of Byberry Road and Bustleton Avenue onto Bustleton Avenue; north on Bustleton Avenue to Philmont Avenue; south on Philmont Avenue to the intersection of Philmont Avenue and Byberry Road.
o All traffic lanes will open on or before Monday, August 26, 2024, at 8:00 PM.
TRAIN SERVICE NOTES: West Trenton Line trains will be operate via single track Friday, August 23, 2024, through Monday, August 26, 2024
