PECO has made major progress by restoring electric service for more than 307,000 of the 327,000 customers who were impacted by the intense and destructive storms that brought heavy rain and straight-line winds gusting to nearly 60 mph on Thursday. The company has brought in thousands of additional field crews to work alongside the more than 3,000 dedicated PECO employees who have been working tirelessly in support of their customers and communities.
Nearly 2,600 additional assistance resources, including line workers and tree crews from outside of the region from states including Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina Virginia, and West Virginia, along with crews from PECO’s sister utility ComEd, in Chicago, are working to restore service for customers.
As of 9 a.m. today, approximately 20,400 customers remain without power.

With crews making major progress restoring service for customers PECO has updated the estimated restoration time for many customers and currently expects service to be restored for most customers by tonight.
With rising temperatures across the region PECO continues to stay closely connected with local government agencies to share information on restoration progress and to ensure awareness of cooling centers that are in place across the region. PECO encourages customers impacted by power outages to stay safe and to utilize these local cooling centers in the City of Philadelphia and across suburban counties or other public spaces to stay cool, and anyone with medical concerns to call 911.
PECO strives to provide every customer with accurate estimated restoration times based on the specific damage in their area. As crews continue to restore service for customers, additional damage may be identified, and restoration times may change. Estimated restoration times for customers will be updated regularly to ensure customers have the latest information regarding when their service will be restored. Customers can access their account information, report an outage, and track their restoration status through PECO mobile app or on peco.com.
PECO works throughout the year to ensure that its people are prepared for storms and extreme weather. The company also is investing $9.3 billion during the next five years across its electric and natural gas systems to help reinforce its infrastructure and to help prevent even more significant damage and outages from severe storm events like this one.

- Stay away from any storm damaged electrical equipment, especially downed power lines and tree limbs that may come into contact withpower lines.
- Check on elderly neighbors and relatives.
- Don't connect your generator directly to your home's wiring.Never use a generator indoors or in an attached garage.Read and adhere to the manufacturer's instructions for safe operation.
