All playgrounds, outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields and the turf field at Valley Center Park are open for public use. Please note that public access to Township park facilities may be limited at times due to use by the Huntingdon Valley Athletics Association (HVAA).
Lower Moreland Township Parks
Lower Moreland Township maintains five parks located within the community. Rules and regulations are posted at the entrance of each
park and we courteously ask that they be followed.
No person shall be allowed in any park or playground between dusk and dawn unless permitted by the Township.
Valley Center Park
Located at 445 Red Lion Road
The park consists of 31 acres for active and passive recreation. Its amenities and features include a lighted synthetic multisport field, restroom / concession building, park pavilion, a playground and one mile nature trail through the Fairway Farm open space preserve. The 90,000 square foot state-of-the-art synthetic field supports a variety of sports including soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and more. Field rental timeslots may be available when not in use as the home field for Lower Moreland High School and HVAA Soccer.
Lower Moreland Park
Entrance off of Warfield Drive and Wheatsheaf Lane
Lower Moreland Park spans 19 acres and contains three baseball fields, one basketball court, two tennis courts, multiple soccer fields and a playground. There is also a walking path that follows the perimeter of the park. Many of the community's youth athletic league games, sponsored by HVAA, take place on the playing fields of Lower Moreland Park.
Ridgway Park
Entrance on Manor Road at Philmont Avenue
This 7.5 acre park provides public recreation for both athletic activities and recreation. There is a softball field with homerun fence, two tennis courts and a basketball court. The park also contains a large play area for children of various ages along with picnic tables and benches.
Elkins Field
Located on Huntingdon Pike just below Philmont Avenue
Elkins Field is currently being utilized as passive open space. The township is drafting a Master Site Plan that would add a trail and several appropriate park amenities recognizing that the low-lying park is a natural basin for flood water and needs to continue to serve that important function.
Justa Park
Parking available on Mettler Drive or Loop Road
This park, located in the Justa Farms Development, is a passive retreat with three acres of wooded land and two small fields. A neighborhood playground space is under review and may be added in the near future.
Red Lion Gym
Located at 625 Red Lion Road
The Red Lion Gym has been authorized as the location for temporary pickleball courts while a new permanent courts are under construction. Gym access is provided from the lower-level Library parking lot. Open play is available throughout the week when not in use by HVAA or a permit.

-All trash must be placed in the trash cans

Pickleball
Located at 3901 Heaton Road
Four new Pickleball Courts are open for use at the Public Works yard. Parking is available in the Public Works employee lot.
Red Lion Gym still remains temporarily available for pickleball use. Open play is available throughout the week when not in use by HVAA or a permit.
Other Parks and Recreation
Pennypack Trail
Park at the 700 block of Welsh Road or 1750 Byberry Road
Completed in 2015 by Montgomery County with the assistance of Lower Moreland Township, the Pennypack Trail extends 5.4 miles from Rockledge Borough to Byberry Road near Mason’s Mill Park. Built on the former Fox Chase-Newtown SEPTA rail line, this 12 foot wide gravel path provides level hiking and biking opportunities with scenic views of the Pennypack Creek valley. Pennypack Ecologic Restoration Trust
Parking on Creek Road at Terwood Road
PERT has eleven miles of woodland, meadow and creekside
trails for hikers of all levels across more than 850 acres of preserved open space. You can enjoy the rolling hills and
spectacular views of the 160-acre Raytharn Farm on the Raytharn Trail,
walk through the old-growth forest on the Peak Trail or enjoy the
calming sounds and sights of Pennypack Creek on the Creek Road Trail.
The trails offer excellent opportunities for bird watching, photography,
tree and wildflower identification or simply enjoying the fresh air
and solitude.
Lorimer Park
Access across Moreland Rd at Packard or take Pennypack Trail
This 230 acre oasis of woods and meadows is adjacent to Lower Moreland in Abington Township. The park attracts visitors to its natural beauty year-round. Lorimer Park is a haven for wildlife under a
canopy of huge trees. Activities include hiking, picnicking, bird and
animal watching, and in the
winter, sledding and cross-country skiing.
