Native Plants and Trees
A native Pennsylvania plant refers to a plant species that existed in Pennsylvania prior to the arrival of European settlers, as opposed to exotic plants that were introduced from other countries after that time. Native plants offer numerous benefits. Since they have evolved in this region, they are well-suited to the local climate and are generally low-maintenance once they have established themselves. Many native perennial plants thrive in less fertile soil and require minimal to no additional fertilization. One of the most compelling reasons to opt for native plants is their role in preserving Pennsylvania's biodiversity and supporting the local ecosystem.
