At the May 13, 2014 Board of Commissioners Meeting, Maximilian Crandall and Sean McGinnis received a Commendation from the Board for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouting program. Maximilian's Eagle Scout project focused on teaching special needs students how to play musical instruments, while incorporating music therapy as part of their instruction. He organizined and directed a concert at Lower Moreland High School for all the special needs students, their parents, families and friends.

For Sean's Eagle Scout project, he organized and lead a Child Safety Fair in cooperation with the Huntingdon Valley Fire Company's Fire Prevention Day. The fair included a child identification fingerprinting station, emergency preparedness kit, and hazardous household product informational table.

Dr. David H. Sirken, a Lower Moreland Commissioner, also recieved a Commendation at the May board meeting for being selected by the Boy Scouts of America to recieve the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award. This award recognizes those who have made a positive impact in their home community.
