Department Overview
The Lower Moreland Township Police Department was established in 1937 when George Flack was hired as the first police officer. At that time, Officer Flack’s home on Huntingdon Pike served as the first police headquarters, as he was the only officer on the police force for the first six years. Today, the Lower Moreland Police Department is responsible for the protection of life and property within the 6.5 square mile political boundary. The Police Department operates under the guidelines of the First Class Township Code.

Our officers are on patrol 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. We are dispatched through County Radio. Our office hours are 7:00 AM to 10:30 PM. Monday to Friday and 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday. Currently there are 23 sworn officers and 5 civilian employees.
Our Department consists of 16 Officers in patrol, 2 Traffic Safety Officers, 3 Detectives, a Lieutenant and the Chief of Police. In addition, officers from our Department are members of the Moreland Area Emergency Response Team.
